Thuluth (الثلث) is the most majestic of all Arabic calligraphy styles. Developed in the 7th century and refined during the Abbasid era, it became the script of choice for mosque inscriptions, Quran chapter headings, and monumental architectural decoration. The name "Thuluth" means "one-third" — referring to the proportion of the pen's nib used in its distinctive strokes.
